New Buy Low Market To Fill 100 Jobs At Community Job Fair
City of Las Vegas Will Offer Job Ready Workshops

The new Buy Low Market opening in West Las Vegas is looking to fill more than 100 positions at a job fair on Saturday, August 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Edmond Town Center located at 921 W. Owens, Suite 110 (between Martin Luther King Boulevard and H Street).

Applicants can get prepared for the job fair by attending Job Ready workshops offered at the city of Las Vegas EVOLVE Center from Aug. 4 to Aug. 14. Employment professionals will cover the skills needed to secure a job including: application completion, resume writing and interview skills. Space in the classes can be reserved by calling 638-6360.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and local workforce service providers will be on-hand at the job fair to offer other employment opportunities and services.

“The jobs that Buy Low Market brings to the area open an exciting and long awaited new chapter for our community,” Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow said. “Buy Low offers a new, convenient place to shop and a new, convenient place to work; a win-win that will be an economic boost during these tough times.”

Councilman Barlow worked diligently along with the city’s Redevelopment Agency to bring the new Buy Low Market to the Edmond Town Center.

Buy Low Market is looking to fill positions immediately. Applicants must be able to pass an on-site drug screening test and background check, be willing to work flexible hours and be at least 18 years of age.

Residents in the area surrounding the site for the new Buy Low Market have been calling for a nearby grocery store for some time. The store is expected to boost the economy in the area. Buy Low Market, is a community-minded, full-service grocery store that specializes in providing “inner-city residents with affordably-priced foods in their local neighborhoods,” according to company officials. The owner of Buy Low Market, Inc. is a principal of K.V. Mart Co., which currently operates several grocery store brands in California.

The city of Las Vegas is working to make neighborhoods stronger. Visit the city of Las Vegas Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov to see what programs are available.
