Hundreds Of Las Vegas Residents Prepare To Come Together To Make A Difference And Better Their Communities
Projects Done In Conjunction With National Make A Difference Day Effort To Promote Volunteerism

Hundreds of Las Vegas residents will join with the city of Las Vegas for Make a Difference Day projects on Saturday, Oct 24. Every year on the fourth Saturday of October, millions of Americans come together to have a positive impact on their communities. The events serve as a catalyst to get people involved year-round in bettering their communities.

The city of Las Vegas has events planned for Saturday to promote the idea of residents getting involved in their communities including:

• Lorenzi Park, 3075 W. Washington Ave., Shots for Tots event, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y.  Barlow is scheduled to speak at 11 a.m. 
• Harry Levy Garden, 2525 W. Washington Ave., neighborhood beautification project, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Vera Johnson, 1610 Harris Ave., landscape beautification project, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m to noon.
• Berkley Square Neighborhood Association, Owens Avenue and F Street beautification project, Oct. 24, from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
• Shade Tree, 1 Main St., family support event, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
• Evanston neighborhood, 6804 Evanston Ave. (staging area), beautification and community resource information distribution, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. 
• Ward 4 Councilman Stavros S. Anthony is scheduled to attend at 10:30 a.m.

The city of Las Vegas offers neighborhood organizing and other programs for residents to get involved in building stronger communities.
