Storm Drain Improvement Project On Elkhorn Road And Torrey Pines Drive Begins In May

Traffic delays can be expected when an $8.3 million storm drain improvement project gets underway on sections of Elkhorn Road and Torrey Pines Drive.

Starting Monday, May 12, and continuing through the next several months, temporary traffic lane restrictions may be in effect on Elkhorn between Rainbow Boulevard and Torrey Pines, and on Torrey Pines from Elkhorn to Dorrell Lane.

Most work will take place during the daytime hours although some night work may be necessary. The Elkhorn Storm Drain Improvement Project will take approximately six months to complete.

As traffic delays and disruptions can be expected, Farm Road is suggested as an alternate route for through east-west travel.
Work on the project includes the construction of new and expanded storm drainage facilities and the installation of new sanitary sewer system along Elkhorn and Torrey Pines.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor for the project. Funding is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department is managing the improvement project that is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2008.
