New Traffic Signals At The Durango/Grand Teton Drive Intersection Go Into Service Friday, May 23

City of Las Vegas traffic crews plan to place the new traffic signals at the intersection of Durango Drive and Grand Teton Drive into full green-amber-red operation on Friday, May 23.

To alert motorists of these upcoming traffic flow changes, the lights will be placed on a “red flash” mode of operation Thursday.

“Traffic continues to increase and the city of Las Vegas is working to make sure that traffic signals are installed to increase public safety in the northwest,” Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross said.

Approximately 21,000 vehicles a day use the intersection and the new signal will provide better circulation for motorists accessing the Durango – U.S. Highway 95 interchange from the new homes and commercial developments in this section of Centennial Hills.

These signals were funded by the city of Las Vegas and installed by city Public Works Department Traffic Engineering crews. In addition, the city Field Operations Department slurry sealed and re-striped the south leg of the intersection which will substantially improve overall roadway operations.

These signals mark the third new set of traffic lights to be installed in Las Vegas city limits this year. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution as they become familiar with the new traffic signals.
