The city of Las Vegas, Nevada Youth Alliance, Metro Police, Matt Kelly Elementary School and Operation Lasting Peace will bring the second of three Safe Summer Nights to the block of Doolittle and J Streets on Thursday, July 24, from 6-8 p.m. Families are invited to enjoy free food, fun and games while a disc jockey plays great music.
The event is part of ongoing outreach in the area through Operation Lasting Peace to get residents involved in their community and get them tapped into resources that can strengthen their neighborhood.
“I hope residents will come out and enjoy this Safe Summer Night event. It is a great opportunity to have fun and get to know the people and resources that are in the community,” said Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow.
A third Safe Summer Night event is scheduled for August 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Matt Kelly Elementary School at 1900 North J Street.
Operation Lasting Peace, a community mobilization initiative, operated through the Southern Nevada Community Gang Task Force, has partnered with Nevada Youth Alliance to bring a message of non-violence and safety to Las Vegas Valley families.
