Several Arson Arrests Made Over Weekend

Seven people including two adults and five juveniles were arrested and charged with arson by Las Vegas Fire Investigators over the weekend and on Monday. The fires that resulted in the arrests were unrelated and occurred at three separate locations.

The first incident occurred on Saturday morning when witnesses called 9-1-1 and reported a male adult setting a tree on fire in a vacant lot in the 100 block of North Bruce St. The suspect was charged with one count of Third Degree Arson.

Four juveniles were charged with Third Degree Arson in connection with a trash fire in a restroom of a building at a private park on Nicklen Street in the northwest part of the city on Saturday afternoon. Two passer-bys,  who saw smoke coming from the restroom, entered and reported that they found juveniles setting fire to the trash. The passer-bys called 9-1-1 and detained the juveniles until police and fire officials arrived on scene. Damage to the building was minor.

An adult male and a juvenile were arrested and charged with Third Degree Arson after a vehicle fire in a remote area of Wyatt Avenue early this morning. Metro Police apprehended the two individuals.
