Starting Thursday, Oct. 1, and continuing into next week, sections of H Street, between Lake Mead Boulevard and Bonanza Road, will be closed to traffic during the approximate hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The temporary closure is also planned for Friday, Oct. 2, resuming again on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5 and 6.
To minimize disruptions to motorists and residents, the road closures will be done in phases. Each H Street section will be closed for one day. As work progresses, H Street will reopen and another section of the road will close. H Street will reopen to access each day by 5 p.m. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. During each section closure, parking will be available on nearby side streets only.
While the temporary road closures are in effect, traffic will be detoured east to D Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Traffic will also be detoured west to J Street and Martin L. King Boulevard.
The road resurfacing project and associated road closures should be completed late Tuesday, Oct. 6. When the H Street resurfacing improvements are completed, crews will then schedule work to install bike lanes between Lake Mead and Wilson Avenue.
The city of Las Vegas Department of Field Operations is performing the road resurfacing portion of the project. The Department of Public Works is performing the bike lane installation. The project is slated for completion in late October.
