The city of Las Vegas Pavilion Center Pool, located north of Alta Drive at 101 South Pavilion Center Drive, is undergoing a $3.5 million improvement project. Work is scheduled to start Monday, Oct. 19, and will take approximately 11 months to complete.
This unique project includes the construction of a heated enclosure that will protect pool users from the weather and extend the swimming season.
“When completed, the sides of the new pool building will open up and the roof will retract,” said Ward 2 Councilman Steve Wolfson, who represents this area of Las Vegas. “The pool will have the feel of an outdoor pool in the summer, and in the winter and during inclement weather, the pool will still be available for use, making for a comfortable year-round swimming experience.”
Work will take place weekdays during daytime hours and should not impact nearby roadways. The pool area and some nearby parking spaces will be fenced off. The remainder of Veterans Memorial Park and remaining parking spaces will stay open and accessible to the public.
The improvement project is slated for completion in the fall of 2010.
The city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works is managing the project. The contractor is B & H Construction. Funding is provided by the city of Las Vegas, the Clark County School District, and residential construction tax.
