The city of Las Vegas invites residents age 50 and older to participate in a free senior health fair on Friday, Sept. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lieburn Senior Center. The center is located at 6230 Garwood Ave.
More than 25 vendors and exhibitors will provide information and services, including a massage therapist doing chair massage, a notary, and physicians and other medical personnel who work with seniors. Blood pressure checks will be available and free hearing tests will be scheduled. Several vendors who provide services for seniors who care for family members will participate. Light refreshments will be provided by Sweet Tomatoes restaurant and Albertsons. The event is sponsored by Senior Solutions Group, Clark County Social Services and the city of Las Vegas.
The Lieburn center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing daily recreation and fitness activities, hobby and card clubs, a computer lab and classes, social groups, conversational Spanish, CPR classes, art and dance classes, a community garden, free topical lectures, monthly breakfasts, luncheons, cooking classes, hiking excursions, Wednesday afternoon movies, a guitar group, Goodtime Singers group, monthly AARP mature driving courses, special events, and new friendships for seniors age 50 and older. Activities are either free or low cost.
