Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded to Clark High School on Pennwood Avenue at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday on a report of something burning and fire alarms sounding. The school evacuated and firefighters arrived on scene in a few minutes.
Firefighters found an activated automatic fire sprinkler in the boy’s locker room, but found no fire. It was determined that a towel caught fire in the locker room which activated the sprinkler system. The activation set off the alarm system which evacuated the school.
There was no damage to the school. The reason the towel caught fire is under investigation by Clark County School District Police. Students were permitted to return to school within a few minutes. There were no reported injuries.
