For the second time in a week, Las Vegas firefighters responded to an auto fire inside the garage of a Sun City Summerlin home. In both cases the fires were quickly extinguished by firefighters which prevented any damage to the living quarters of either home. Both fires were ruled accidental.
Tonight’s fire occurred at 7:12 p.m. at 9609 Pikedale Dr. The owner of the home was working on the auto in the garage when a fire started around the car battery which was located behind the driver’s seat inside the car. The owner tried to put the fire out, but was unable. He then pushed the car out onto the driveway just as firefighters were arriving on scene. The fire was quickly put out.
Some damage did occur to the garage and smoke did get into the home, mostly the attic. Damage was estimated at $15,000.
There were no reported injuries.
The other fire occurred on Sunday in the garage of a home on Shoalhaven Drive. That fire also caused $15,000 damage.
