Las Vegas firefighters responded to a house fire at 1029 Alan Shepard St. (Charleston/Buffalo) at 10:21 Monday morning. On arrival, heavy flames were showing on the outside of a one-story wood frame house. Firefighters arrived on scene and had the fire out in less than five minutes. They were able to put the fire out before it burned to the interior of the home, which was not damaged.
Fire investigators ruled the fire accidental, and could not determine the exact cause. There were several pool items such as toys and chemicals in the area where the fire started, including an ashtray and dried leaves.
Damage was estimated at $20,000. Nearly all the damage was on the outside of the house and some contents outside.
No one was home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.
