City Council To Have Moment Of Silence For The Victims Of The Connecticut Elementary School Shooting
City Council To Also Recognize Local Winners Of Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament

 

The Las Vegas City Council will have a moment of silence for the victims of the Connecticut elementary school shooting at the Wednesday, Dec. 19, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony will recognize the young players who represented Las Vegas in the Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament. The tournament was held in February and included more than 300 teams competing.

In addition, Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize students from Clark High School who have been awarded National Merit Scholarships. The councilwoman will also recognize the volunteer work of Clark County School District Police Officers.

Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is scheduled to recognize the accomplishments of the Acelero Learning Center for work in advancing the education of young Las Vegas students. Councilman Barlow will also recognize the work of his outgoing intern Samira Tamules.

The Transportation Research Center at UNLV has placed a large pledge banner on the second floor of City Hall outside of Council Chambers. Those visiting City Hall are encouraged to sign the banner pledging that they will not drink and drive, especially over the holidays.

Finally, the City Council will recognize the December Employee of the Month for the city of Las Vegas.
