The city of Las Vegas is moving forward with plans to find a permanent fire chief for the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department. The city is conducting a nationwide search beginning today to replace retired Chief Mike Myers. Deputy Fire Chief Scott Fuller has been serving as the interim fire chief since Myers’ retirement last month.
Candidates will have until April 5 to submit their resumes. Candidates will then be screened, with the most qualified candidates invited to move forward in the process. City officials will develop an evaluation process for the final list of candidates, leading up to tentatively scheduled interviews in mid-May 2013.
The city expects to have the candidate recommended for appointment to the City Council no later than July 1.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue resources include 19 fire stations, two support stations, 664 authorized positions and a FY2013 operating budget of $111.1 million.
