Fire Sprinkler Douses Blaze In Medical Business
Business Was Closed When Fire Occurred

Las Vegas firefighters responded to Academy Medical Equipment, 2651 Crimson Canyon Drive (Peak/Tenaya) at 9:54 Wednesday evening. On arrival, smoke was coming from one of the businesses in a large warehouse type building which is subdivided into several businesses.

Firefighters had to force entry into the business which was filled with smoke. A large amount of water was also coming out of the business which indicated that fire sprinklers were activated.

Firefighters found that a fire had started among several medical scooters that were parked along a large work bench area. Several of the units were damaged by the fire, the fire was held in check by the sprinkler system until firefighters arrived and put the fire completely out.

Fire investigators determined the fire started in one of the scooters and spread to the other units.

About a dozen scooters were damaged in varying degrees from the fire or heat. The rest of the business was not damaged. An exact damage amount was not immediately available.

There were no injuries during the incident.
