Tickets are on sale now for summer concerts and shows at the Historic Fifth Street School and Charleston Heights Arts Center.
DjangoVegas! returns to downtown Las Vegas June 22 to celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz musicians past and present. The John Jorgenson Quintet, Stephane Wrembel and his band, and Hot Club of Las Vegas will perform at the Historic Fifth Street School, located at 401 S. Fourth St. Pre-concert cocktails, food and entertainment by the Icy Hot Club will begin at 5 p.m. in the outdoor courtyard. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are priced at $10 in advance and $15 on event day.
Adults and children alike will enjoy “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” Lucky Diaz & the Family Jam Band, and “The Dragon King.” Each performance is at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are priced at $3 per person for each show; discounted pricing is available for groups of 20 or more.
The steampunk puppet production of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” by Tears of Joy Theatre combines humor with science and the technology imagined by author Jules Verne to inspire the desire to learn and explore. Performances are Wednesday, July 17, at Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush St; and Thursday, July 18, at the Historic Fifth Street School.
Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band are familiar to “kindie rock” fans, with No. 1 hits on Sirius XM's Kids Place Live, wide acclaim and awards. This family band tours nationwide, spinning tunes that make grown-ups smile even as the lyrics speak directly to kids. Performances are Wednesday, July 24, at Charleston Heights and Thursday, July 25, at the Historic Fifth Street School.
Tanglewood Marionettes will present “The Dragon King” Wednesday, July 31, at Charleston Heights Arts Center and Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Historic Fifth Street School. An underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore, “The Dragon King” tells the tale of a wise grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea to seek the king and the answer to why he has forsaken the land above. With colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and master puppeteers, the production is a heart-warming tale that will enthrall young and old alike.
