The Las Vegas City Council will hear a bill to expand the types of businesses that can benefit from a multi-jurisdictional business license at the Wednesday, Aug. 21, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.
If approved, the bill will allow the city to start working toward implementing a new license category that will allow lawn and landscape businesses, and professionals like architects and engineers, to receive one license to do business in the valley. A multi-jurisdictional license saves business owners time and in many cases money.
During the ceremonial portion of the meeting, Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross will also recognize the Mountain Ridge Little League team. The team made it all the way to the Western Region Little League semifinals before bowing out to a Chula Vista, Calif. club that went on to the Little League World series in Williamsport, Pa.
Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will recognize the August Citizen of the Month, Steve Schorr, for his work in the community.
In addition, Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian is scheduled to recognize the winner of the Springs Preserve Teacher at Sea Program.
Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony will recognize National Aviation Day, and Councilman Bob Coffin will honor two city of Las Vegas corrections officers for their training work.
