The Shakespeare Institute of Nevada will perform eight scenes from William Shakespeare’s greatest works at the first annual Taste of Shakespeare event on Saturday, Oct. 5, from noon to 5 p.m. at Hills Park, located at 9100 Hillpointe Road.
The free event is sponsored by the city of Las Vegas and the Shakespeare Institute of Nevada. Everyone is invited to join Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony and Councilman Bob Beers at the event.
“This is a great chance for the community to come out and enjoy scenes from Shakespeare’s best-known plays in a beautiful environment,” Mayor Pro Tem Anthony said.
Scenes from “Hamlet,” “Macbeth,” “King Lear,” “As You Like It,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” “Midsummer Nights’ Dream,” and “Twelfth Night” will be featured.
The eight scenes will be presented every half-hour, and between scenes there will be strolling madrigal singers. There also will be vendors, face painters and other family-friendly activities. A second stage will give residents a chance to recite their favorite Shakespeare passages as part of Shakespeare-karaoke.
