City Of Las Vegas To Continue To Provide More Transparency
‘Checkbook Level’ Information To Soon Be Available On City’s Website

The Las Vegas City Council received a report at the Jan. 8, 2014 City Council meeting regarding more detailed budget, spending and payroll information that will be placed on the city’s website, www.lasvegasnevada.gov.

This new open data portal currently has raw data regarding business licenses, calls for service for rapid response, building inspections and solar energy production at city facilities, among other data streams. To see this data visit https://opendata.lasvegasnevada.gov/.

In spring 2014 the portal will also feature an open checkbook function and will continue the city’s commitment to providing citizens with open and transparent government. Open checkbook provides the public with easily accessible and understandable information about the city’s spending, through intuitive and interactive charts and displays.

Open checkbook will also allow this information to be downloaded in various formats including Excel.

The city already has information including the budget, profit and loss reports and city employee salaries on the city website. In addition, audit reports from the City Auditor, building permit reports, treasury reports and other reports and information are all available free of charge on the city website.
