Energy Efficient and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant is authorized by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and funded for the first time by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This is intended to assist local governments, including cities and counties, states and Indian tribes to develop, promote, implement and manage energy efficiency and conservation projects and programs designed to:
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Reduce energy use.
- Improve energy efficiency in transportation and buildings.
- Create and retain jobs.
