Cara Campbell

Municipal Court Department 3 Judge Cara Campbell is a native Las Vegan, born and raised in the valley. She attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she was a Cum Laude honors graduate majoring in political science. Judge Campbell attended The McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Calif.  

Judge Campbell began her career as an intern for the Hon. Judge Donald Mosley in the 8th Judicial District Court in Clark County. It was in the courtrooms of Clark County that Judge Campbell realized her passion for the criminal justice system. She obtained the position of law clerk in The Clark County District Attorney’s Office. In 1998, she was promoted to Deputy District Attorney where she was assigned the to the Domestic Violence Unit, prosecuting all varieties of violent domestic crimes. In her tenure in the District Attorney’s Office, she was the lead prosecutor on virtually every type of criminal allegation in the State of Nevada.

In 2006, Judge Campbell accepted the position of Chief Deputy of Training and Recruitment for the entire Clark County District Attorney’s Office, only the second female prosecutor to ever hold this position. In this important role, she was directly responsible for recruitment of law students and licensed attorneys to fill important positions for the largest office of practicing lawyers in the entire State of Nevada. In addition, Campbell was director of the Clark County District Attorney internship program, the largest of its kind statewide, as well as the production and administration of the training program for all newly-deputized Deputy District Attorneys in Las Vegas.  

Judge Campbell resides in Las Vegas with her husband and three young children.
